Small Business Valuation and Consulting Services

Our Business Valuation Services

Although we have performed valuations on companies with annual sales as high as $20 million, our specialty is valuing owner-operated businesses with annual sales under $5 million. To make our services more affordable and more closely matched to your needs, we offer two basic types of business valuation engagements - value calculations and business valuations..

Value Calculations

In a value calculation engagement we perform specific, predetermined valuation methods and procedures that produce a calculated value or range of values. A value calculation does not include all the procedures required in a business valuation engagement and therefore the results may be different. We offer two types of value calculations - market and business.

Our Market Value Calculation (MVC) is the least expensive way to get a rough or 'ballpark' estimate of what your business is worth. It uses data from actual sales of businesses similar to yours and industry rules of thumb formulas to calculate a range of values.

Our Business Value Calculation (BVC) is for those wanting more than a rough estimate of value. It uses data from actual sales of businesses similar to yours and industry rules of thumb formulas, like the Market Value Calculation described above, plus 3 additional widely used valuation methods to calculate a range of values. We also summarize 3 years of financial data ($ and %) side-by-side for easy comparison.

Business Valuations

In a Business Valuation engagement we consider all valuation approaches and methods, and perform all valuation procedures that are relevant and appropriate for the circumstances. A business valuation engagement produces a conclusion of value that is typically expressed as a single amount. Please click on the link to view a Sample Business Valuation Report.

A business valuation engagement is most appropriate for larger businesses, when the valuation report will be submitted to a third-party like the Internal Revenue Service, or when the results may be subject to dispute or litigation. The cost of a business valuation is based on the size (based on annual sales) of the company and the complexity of the engagement, and starts at $1,500 for companies with sales of $1 million or less.
